Message from the President
Claudia Reidhead

Hi folks! I hope you had a great Memorial Day holiday. Congratulations to the June graduates. These young folks are on my mind right now as my granddaughter Sufa just graduated from Bonanza High with Honors and I'm really doing the proud grandma thing as my feet haven't touched the ground for days.

With the unseasonably hot weather we have been having, tourism has dropped of as we only had six visitors to our exhibit this month. Kim Hickenbotham has been a Godsend in helping out for the past two months with the exhibit as Mary and Gloria have been gone. Thanks Kim.

Our deepest sympathies to Bev Coffee on the loss of her daughter. You have friends thinking of you. Congratulations to Ruthianna Green on the birth of her 6lb 4oz. son Beatty Jason Green on June 3rd, 9:56 a.m. Ruthianna is scheduled for heart surgery and our prayers go out to her for a speedy recovery.

Andy Gudas is busy working on placing names and businesses on the lots in the plat map of Rhyolite. Good luck Andy, you're doing a great job. Another thanks to Andy as he is one of the volunteers that supervises Dustin's community service time at Rhyolite. Others helping Dustin serve his hours have been Gloria, Vonnie, Jeff and myself. Larry has been our man in court when we couldn't make it and all of these people deserve a thank you from all of us. I believe that it has helped Dustin understand what he really has done and he is trying to make amends. I know that he does show interest in the town of Rhyolite and its history now. We sure could use a couple more volunteers to help him finish out his hours.

Welcome home to all our wandering members. Mary is home from Alabama, Gloria is back from Georgia and Pastor Jeff is home from Israel. As always, thanks to Bill and Zettia for all they do for us in the printing of our newsletters and for their letter to the Nye County Commissioners. All the letters and the packed hearing chanber (that ran into the hall) are what saved Central Nevada Museum.

For those of you who I didn't contact and have no idea what I'm talking about, the County Commissioners tried to close the Tonopah Museum and I only had three days from the time I received the notice to reach as many as I could. All letters had to be in by June 1st to stop closure by July 1st. Thankfully Bill Metscher had all the friends he needed to get the job done. Any who have visited the museum in Tonopah know that it is one of the best in Nevada and we can only hope to be as good one day. I'm sure by this time you're tired of listening to me, so bye for this time and have a great summer.

"RIBITS' from the editor ....Bullfrog Billy

Welcome to another edition of BMHS news. Our history section features "The Bullfrog Red Oak Mining Co.", and another segment of "Who's Who in Nevada" is featured. Sounds like a normal issue. Well, who amongst us likes everything normal? therefore, we added a couple of special pages in this issue.(This section of the newsletter is not available on the website.) First, we have a full page salute to two of our members. Clint and Ellen Boehringer, and we have a full page advertisement for our 2nd annual "Picnic in the Park." The "Picnic" page was designed by our recent addition to the newsletter staff, graphic arts designer Mike Feuerstein of Lakewood, California. Mike is now a member of BMHS and we are delighted to have his talent available. You'll see more of his work in upcoming issues.

Some of you received your renewal notices with the last issue and some will receive renewal notices this time. OF COURSE you know exactly what to do and how fast to do it. I am thrilled with the news that the Central Nevada Museum will remain open and as Claudia mentioned in her column, the letters and large turnout at the Commissioners meeting got the job done. It's called teamwork, something that BMHS has and the main reason we continue to grow.

Zettia and I are looking forward to our next visit to Beatty, August 16-18. I know you'll order up a nice batch of weather for us. who knows, maybe I'll bring a couple of spares from my collection for the "Picnic in the Park" auction and we can get an old fashioned bidding war started. I hope to see all of you August 17th at the park and don't be bashful, just say "Ribit...Ribit"
